Will there be a new smaller Hissatsu produced any time soon? I am refering to a posting by Mr. Williams about some new knives by CRN&T. I have seen the new larger tanto for 09, has the smaller pocket size version been delayed?

John,

We are working on it however I don't have a time frame at this point in time. It will be a "Gentlemen's" folder.

James

Now if only they made a slightly smaller fixed blade... (I asked Santa last year and no chance of that happening)
Is there anything like this on its way down the pipe line for the near or distant future... would just love to have one in my military tactical vest as my current Hissatsu is friction fit behind my C7 magazine pouches. (which often receives a glare)

I'm looking forward very much to the downsized Hissatsu folder. The original was fine for clipping to a belt, but too large for the pocket.

I agree with Buddy that a somewhat smaller fixed-blade Hissatsu might be a good thing. A blade in the 5-6" range would be more convenient for some applications.

Gentlemen,

The modifications that I wanted are done so the small, Hissatsu 2, folder should be ready before too long. Here is a picture of the two knives together. The big folder has been used a fair bit as you can see in the photo. The small folder will have a black clip that goes to the top of the handle so that it will fit flush in the pocket.

The difference in size is significant even though the blade is a bit less than an inch shorter.

James

Thanks a ton James, however if I may ask, what will the blade and handle material be on the smaller folder.
However it looks great all round... and cant wait to add that folder to my kit.

All,

Coming in late to this, I've been looking out for the Gentlemen's version for some time.

I still carry the non-assisted original folder everyday. The purity of the design still gets me. Like they say, "Everything you need, nothin' you don't." I've full on buried it in a 2X4 locked into a vise, ripped it out repeatedly, to no ill effect. I can't count the number of tips I've broken off of other lesser folders. The fact that the Hissatsu folder can penetrate like it does and still retain its strength is amazing. I've recently removed the black coating from the blade and I like it. I've always liked the two-tone look to the stainless fixed blade version, so I wanted to see how the folder would look with an uncoated blade.

Looking forward to getting my hands on the newer version. Thanks for a great design!
