On 31 December 2009, a new member registered with the username "Luytjens1939" and the email “luytjens1939@gmail.com” from IP address 194.63.135.161 which belongs to a company called FORweb or 4web in Poland. Upon looking at the profile, seeing that the prospective member’s full name was listed as "Verner Luytjens" and feeling generous that day (it was New Year’s Eve, after all) I decided to alter the username to "Verner Luytjens" and activate the account.

Well, I feel I must apologize to you all and give everyone a heads-up because today, I have received an email from that very same email account that reads:

Hello:

I am a private collector and I have 2 japanese swords (katana and tanto) with the blade from XVIII century. I would like to sell them for the reasonable price (700US$ and 450US$). If you could have an interest, please write directly to: luytjens1939@gmail.com

All the best.

Now, for those of you who don’t know, Pawel Nowak has a long standing history of being a con artist and thief and the “individual” may well be a front for a group of people working together. For further reading on the topic feel free to do a google search or try the following for starters:

Being who I am, I, of course, responded ...

Hello

You are a thief with a long running history of conning people out of money and stealing their swords. Do not contact me again.

Likewise, you have been banned from Bugei Sword Forum for:

1) lying to me during registration
2) being who you are

Dimytri Komanatov

So I am making a General Announcements post and sending a flash email to let everyone know that this guy is at it again and to let everyone know to expect him to prowl through your inboxes. Incidentally, there are two things to keep in mind: 1) I’ve already banned him so don’t expect to see any posts here about this and 2) the memberlist is not visible to non-members so his access to your emails via the memberlist is a lapse on my part. I apologize.

On the other hand, receiving an email solicitation from Pawel Nowak– as annoying as it is – is almost a right of passage at this point.

Haha I remember when I got my first email from that fraud. I actually led him on to see how far he was willing to go. Scary part is the guy (or group) has tons of photos, an ID Card, and several legit looking documents he uses to "prove" his existence. That was over 4 years ago though, I'm amazed this guy or someone else picked up to start this sham again.

Thanks for the heads up Mr. Komanatov, won't lie, your response to him put a smile on my face.
