I have been trying to track down a someone I can pay to make me a sword replica for some time now, but as of yet I have had no luck. So instead I thought perhaps I would have better luck asking here. I am in the Navy, and as such I cannot spend days or weeks learning to create swords myself, otherwise I would. Might anyone on here have the information I seek?

Cj,

I am not sure that I understand the questions. Do you want a custom sword made in a particular style?

Sincerely,

James

Pretty much. I want a particular style of sword made, but I am unable to find someone capable of making them.

What style of blade? There are some good smith's out there.

See this is usually where I get laughed at or told I'm an idiot.

I want a katana with a crossguard, and I want it to be completely black. I know it's possible because I've seen it. What I don't know is where to obtain such a thing.

I'd like to be 'cool' and say 'money is no object', but that wouldn't be true.

Also, is it customary in this forum to write your posts like emails? I see many people doing it.

CJ,

Seek out a fantasy sword maker on the internet. Traditional smiths will rarely work outside of a historical context.

Do you have sword training? Is there a practical reason for this type of blade?

That's pretty funny! Wouldn't it be awesome if it were that easy ;)

It was an exageration. I know it takes much longer than that; I bought reading material concerning metalworking when I first started entertaining the idea.

First, James is right: traditional swordsmiths are generally not going to touch this, but those who make fantasy swords will. There is a third options, which is to find a craftsman who works on "historically plausible" pieces and in that vein, contact me via PM or email and I'll be happy to help.

Second ...

... strangely, this has me more curious than the rest of the thread. I'm not following you: could you elaborate on what you mean by writing posts like emails?

Meaning how some people write it as:

Person's name,

Reply

Their Name
